CTS has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I grant by the US Army entitled “Variable Energy Ignition System for Heavy Fuel Rotary Engine”. The purpose of this Phase I project will be to adapt the CTS Dynamic Spark Ignition (DSI) for use in the US Army’s Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) Combat Vehicle Prototyping (CVP) Advanced Auxiliary Power engine. The unique feature of this project is the use of the DSI system to ignite Jet / Diesel fuels in a spark ignited internal combustion rotary engine.
